With more than 30 years of experience in pharma contract service operations, Mr. Christian Ahlmark joins Pii as Vice President of Sales and Business Development. A respected sales leader and account executive, his knowledge of injectable and solid drug product and API development and manufacture ranges from clinic to commercial, domestic to international. Mr. Ahlmark most recently serviced as Vice President Business Development, North America, for IDT Biologika. He also held lead sales and business positions at Corden Pharma International, Kemwell Biopharma, CoreRx Inc., Lancaster Labs, Inc., and Applied Analytical Inc. (now Alcami). Mr. Ahlmark was also a co-founder of Magellan Laboratories Inc. (now Catalent Pharma Services).

Dr. Thomas Ingallinera is the Vice President of Technical Support at Pharmaceutics International, Inc (Pii) and one of Pii’s talented subject matter experts whose purpose is to solve problems. Dr. Tom has over 40 years of experience in pharmaceutical development, with an expertise in complex dosage forms. He has advised on product development programs across the continuum, from pre-formulation through commercial production. He has worked at several leading pharmaceutical companies including BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Parenta Pharmaceuticals, AAI Pharma, Genzyme, Burroughs Welcome, and A.H. Robins. Dr. Ingallinera has a B.S. in Pharmacy with a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Tom also serves as a member of the Technical Advisory Group for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Devan Patel, who joined Pii in 2012, is Vice President of Client Services where oversees Pii’s Business Operations functions. He previously served as Pii’s Senior Director, Project Management since 2012. In that role, Devan played a key role in Pii’s development and commercial programs for orals and injectables. With his leadership, Pii has built a world-class Project Management Organization (PMO) consistently characterized by superb customer experience. Over the years, Devan has used his knowledge and technical skills to play a vital role for the Operations team, managing key initiatives for the Parenteral/Sterile business unit, including managing the overall scheduling and planning of all Aseptic Operations. His collaborative style when working with cross-functional teams across Pii’s business units and ability to anticipate problems before they occur as raised the role of project management to an artform. Devan delivers a positive, outcomes-focused experience for our client-partners, from initial contact through successful completion of each project.

Devan earned his Bachelors in Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics from the University of Maryland and a M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.

Susan Wiggins, RPh, is Director of Business Development Marketing at Pharmaceutics International Inc. (Pii). She previously served as Senior Director of Business Development at Pii for 13 years. Prior to working at Pii, Ms. Wiggins worked for Shire Labs and AAI, focusing on building and maintaining customer relationships. Before entering pharmaceutical sales, she worked for retail pharmacies, including Eckerd Drugs. Ms. Wiggins earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy in 1978.

As Director of Business Development, Cindy Koonce makes it her priority to establish key relationships and business strategies with Pii’s customers to provide a vertically integrated set of solutions for assisting with their pharmaceutical development programs. Her global experience in business development, key account management, and pharmaceutical Know-How is an asset to Pii’s customers. Cindy honed her industry experience in the CDMO space, and healthcare overall, while working as a Global Account Manager in previous years, working with key customers in the US and EU to help drive projects to completion. As the crucial liaison between the customer and company, collaborating with the scientific and management teams, Cindy ensured a one-stop service solution to meet the outsourcing needs of pharmaceutical and biotech companies. She earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.

Michelle’s childhood had a significant impact on how she approaches her role at Pii. A child of missionaries living in the Congo, formerly Zaire, Michelle grew up helping her parents provide essential resources and medical care to the local communities. Her mother taught cooking, nutrition, and sewing to Congolese women. She also provided vaccinations and medical exams to children in remote villages where childhood death rates were high. Michelle’s father studied agriculture and veterinary science in order to solve complex infrastructure problems, such as water access, building hospitals, and meeting the needs of local communities. He once used his veterinary knowledge to repair a man’s Achilles tendon which enabled the man to walk after a significant injury. It was in the Congo that Michelle learned how her life’s work could and should contribute to the greater good. She also learned how being creative and flexible can solve problems, even with limited resources.

As a college student, Michelle moved to the United States for where she studied French and Art, two of her passions. Having grown-up in the austere conditions of the African continent, she arrived in the United States without a full understanding of the opportunities available. She admits that she struggled a bit adjusting to the societal expectations and seemingly trivial aspects of life in the United States, compared to the bare essentials and survivalist mindset she was accustomed to in the Congo. It wasn’t until her first job in Corporate Audit for Citicorp, where she identified potentials for fraud at credit card centers, that she began to connect how data can be used to benefit people.

Vidhi Desai-Pii

Vidhi Desai is the Sales and Marketing Assistant and responsible for facilitating all initial contact between drug developers and Pii, and streamlining the initial stages of every potential drug developer project that comes to the Pii team.

Prior to joining Pii, Vidhi was a Formulation Scientist and Associate Manager at Tergus Pharma. She was also a Teaching Assistant in the Biology Department and Pharmaceutical Analysis Lab, an Assistant Analyst, and a Research Assistant, all at Campbell University.

Vidhi earned a Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Campbell University, a Masters in Pharmacy Quality Assurance from Ganput University, and a Bachelors of Pharmacy from B.S. Patel College of Pharmacy.
